Welcome to the neighborhood...

So.. yesterday we celebrated my oldest son's 4 1/2 birthday... (he was born on December 24th... and he really gets the shaft on his birthday)... with friends in the summer. We had a blast, however we really kind of overdid it this year. We had a bounce house, painting shirts for the kids, a color box and the Nerf rocket launcher... (so much fun by the way). With over 15 kids and their parents... you have to have something to do!

Living in a cul-de-sac has it's advantages... but then their are the disadvantages too.... parking is a major one! Not only did we have the entire cul-de-sac filled to the gills... we had a new neighbor moving in. It didn't exactly make for a warm welcome. So I thought that I would try to make up for that today.

I decided to make them some strawberries scones along with a jar of strawberry sauce as a token of friendship and welcome to the neighborhood. With over 10 pounds of strawberries.... I had to do something with them.... (why do I have 10 lbs. of strawberries you ask???? long story...).

I feel like telling Martha Stewart to eat her heart out! Either that or you can just call me Bree Van deKamp... I actually took a recipe for blueberry scones and changed it a little. They are really very good... although my picky eater decided to shove his test scone into the mouth of Spiderman... that boy will never eat strawberries...

This really (in total from preparation, baking and packaging.... even doing this blog post) only took me about an hour and a half... or the length of the Eric Clapton Unplugged cd).... so nice. Look at these beauties...

Typically, I never do things like this... no time. But it's Sunday and I kind of feel bad that we made their first day in their new home a little difficult.

Moving into a new place can be overwhelming and a little nerve racking. Not sure about who your neighbors are... what they are all about ... if they are trouble or a little bit of the Cleavers... I think we are somewhere in the middle, but at the same time I want them to feel welcome to our town and our street. I hope this makes up for a rough day yesterday.
