Family Reunion Fun!

This weekend, we were lucky enough to spend three days with our extended family (husband's side) for our annual reunion up in Washington. I love this event and look forward to it every year. Not because we get to camp for three days, not because I eat more food in three days than I could ever dream, not because I get to see my kids thoroughly enjoy their time with cousins and great-auntie's... but because it's all about family and enjoying the time together.

From the second I became a member of this family, I have felt so welcome and loved. It's like I sometimes forget that my family is over 2,000 miles away. We really get down and dirty (literally) with the fun! The boys spent each day, running, laughing, sliding and bouncing in the dirt. We get the chance to learn a little something about our family history, get caught up with cousins and long lost relatives that we haven't seen since last year's event. The kinship and overall importance of family is a big piece of why we all enjoy ourselves each year and want to come back for more. More than anything I look forward to seeing my children grow and learn from their relatives - - and what they have done.

Why do boys love dirt so?

It was hard at first not to just want to wipe their little faces every five minutes and make sure they were clean and presentable. Boys will be boys I guess and they just love the dirt. You can't take that out of them. It's just the way they are.
Mason, pictured here was an adorable mess each and every minute. All of his auntie's couldn't get enough of him... and big brother too.

I hope that you all have a chance this summer to spend some time with family and friends. Each day is such a treasure and when I have the chance to let go of the "everyday" drone... I love to be with my family!

I just love the summer time!
