Magazine Addiction

Do you have a magazine addiction? Do you love the feeling when you see that plastic wrapping in the mail pile? I DO!
I love magazines... I love
taking them with me when I am off to an appointment, hoping that I will
have 10 minutes to flip through the newly designed and colorful
pages... I love the cover titles that get me all amped up for what the articles might include... and I love to see a nice fat pile in my magazine slot ready for me to read!
In
addition to the long list of magazines I get, I also get various
monthly newsletters via snail mail that I have to read also... Today I
was talking with some friends about my "addiction" and I mentioned that
I get like 18 magazines every month (that really was a guess... ha! I
was right)... and I love each and everyone (well almost). It keeps me
up to date on all the great and new fun websites, products, blogs and
advice on fun, fun stuff! I thought it might be helpful to document my
"addiction" and tell you why I love each and every one... here goes...
Real Simple is self explanatory.. although sometimes this overstates being organized and make it seem too easy... NOT TRUE!
Living! Who doesn't love Martha... she is beyond creative and has fabulous ideas on everything.
Domino has the best products and great ideas for the eclectic type.
Organize is brand new and oh boy... I droll over every page!
Southern Living a gift from mom.. I live in the Pacific Northwest, but she thinks I would love the recipes... I do love Paula Deen... so I guess it seems logical.
Better Homes & Gardens new magazine from mom... again... good ideas.
Blue Prints is a branch of Martha... for us 30-somethings... great projects, ideas on household management and life.
Oregon Business keeps me posted on local businesses...
Scrapbook Etc. my passion and obsession...
Creating Keepsakes is still my passion and obsession...
Simple Scrapbooks need I say more?
Paper Crafts breaks me into the "card" arena...
ReadyMade keeps me crafty with recycling projects...
Cottage Living great decorating ideas!
Parents comes free... but gives me great ideas for the kids.
Garden Gate a gift from mom-in-law... love the plants..
Birds and Bloom another gift from mom-in-law... and she loves the birds...
Family Fun! wow... this is new and awesome projects and games for kids...
Wow!
That's a little weird to see the list like that. I am a little
surprised that I don't have any "chatter" listed there... a little
Instyle.. People.... funny! Although I have a bit of an addiction... I
do have a good handle on managing them. You won't see a pile of
magazines in my house... or at least not my pile... you might find a
stack of Hot VW's or maybe Four Wheeler laying around... but that is
all hubbies...
Here
are my top five tips to manage your magazine addiction. Please note...
I never have more than 5 magazines in my mail slot at one time... most
of the time it's empty!
5. Keep what you love! Usually with all but maybe 5-6 magazines I tear out what I love and toss the magazine when I am done.
4. Takem' with you!
I usually take at least one magazine as I am walking out the door. Most
of the time I am waiting for the kids... at an appointment a few
minutes early and it's great to have one with me to kill that extra
time.
3. Have one spot for magazines. Have a small spot (file slot, mail bin) where magazines go so that it gives you a space to manage. It will keep you on task...
2. If you like keeping magazines.. set a limit! We don't need to keep them forever... set boundaries..!
1. If your not reading them... stop subscribing!
