MONTHLY BIO: Aby Garvey

Do you ever have that person that just inspires you to be a better person, work harder or maybe they just make you smile. Well, as part of my Monthly Bio Series, I thought I would start with the people that Inspire Me. This month features Aby Garvey. If you don't know Aby, YOU SHOULD! She is an organizer, scrapbooker and now author! I sent her an interview and here is what she said... Get a cup 'a joe and meet Aby!

Q. What inspires you to get out of bed each morning?

A. First and foremost, my kiddos and my hubby. Love those people I get to share my life with. And on the weekends my kids are particularly “inspiring,” especially when I’m trying to sleep in. “Mommy? Mommy? Are you up yet?”

Second is my business simplify 101. Getting up in the morning is easy when you love what you do. I’m lucky that way.

Q. What do you do, and why do you do it?

A. I help people create change in their lives by getting more organized. I have always loved organizing and transformations…starting with a messy space and creating calm and order is nothing short of pure joy for me. So that’s how I got into organizing. But the external transformations pale in comparison to the change that goes on inside of people when the burden of disorganization is lifted from their shoulders. Seeing people change, hearing it in their voice, sensing their peace of mind…that’s why I do what I do.

Q. What is your favorite song to rock out to in the car?

A. For me it’s usually when I run that I do my rocking out. I have a few favorites on my MP3 player that I save for the end of my run…“Better Now” by Collective Soul; “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield, and “Harder to Breathe” by Maroon 5.

Q. What is your guilty pleasure and why?

A. Magazines. I’m a total over-indulger of magazines. Why? I love to look at all the pictures. Seriously.

Q. What is the one decision you are struggling with right now?

A. Paper or plastic?

Q. What is the one book you can connect with and why?

A. OK…so I’m going to give you two. The book I connect with most right now is my new book “The Organized & Inspired Scrapbooker” which I co-authored with Wendy Smedley. It’s surreal to see something you conceive in your mind, come to real life. Completely surreal.

The second book is “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield. I love personal development and this book is a masterpiece on the topic. It’s the thickest book I’ve ever read, loaded with wisdom and inspiration in bite-sized, digestible chunks. Love it.

Q. What is your favorite gift to give and why?

A. I don’t have one specific favorite gift to give. But I do love to give a theme gift…where you have a few items that all go together, like a pizza stone, with a pizza cookbook, pizza cutter and my favorite pizza sauce. I love to give that kind of gift.

Thanks again Aby! I have to say that her book is completely fabulous! I have to say that of all the books on organizing scrapbooking (and believe me, I have read them all... mostly), this is the best book yet! I have to say that I feel like I know Aby just a little bit better today.

Who inspires you?
