What's On Your List?

So, I was reading an article in Simple Scrapbooks that really caught my attention. It was about of all things… a to-do list! Stacy Julian (the editor) talked about something that I could really identify with… feeling overwhelmed with the many tasks on my list… and wallowing in the “woe is me” attitude about all the things on it.

Something she said that I can identify with was that most of the things on my list - - I do because I WANT TO them not because I have to. It may be exhausting (at times) but I love to attend to the details… just the way I like them done.

Simplify… such a funny word in my business. I think it’s important to simplify because we need to but some of us (me included) don’t really want to. I love the details! I love to send handwritten birthday, anniversary cards because I love the attention and sentiment it brings to me and the receiver. I love to spend an afternoon working on one scrapbook page that is perfectly the way I want it! I love the idea of spending countless hours working towards a project that brings joy to the people around me.

We have to define our own happiness. What organized means to me could mean something else to others. At the end of the day it’s not going to matter how things might appear on the outside… it’s what happiness we have on the inside.

What Stacy says is priceless… “Plenty of people will tell you to simplify by doing less… I’m going to tell you should simplify by loving what you do.”

We create our own happiness and we create our list of things to do. What’s on your list?
