The Recipe Box Mess

Yes, even someone who is organized has their own issues with getting organized.

I have this problem! I love to clip recipes from just about everything; the paper, from friends, magazines, online and so on. I frequently use the various recipes that I clip so it's not like they just sit there and do nothing. Once I make something (and I like it) I enter the recipe into my "Betty Crocker" recipe program on the computer. So I don't have tons in the file, but it's full (and a bit messy).

I have tried using a "photo album" type method... (this was of course when there were the sticky pages) but it tends to be to cumbersome to work with and sometimes tore the pages.

I have tried "recipe boxes" and let's just say... it's not 1950 anymore Betty Crocker we have gone on line! Most recipes are on HUGE pieces of paper and just don't fit in a box.

So, in my never ending quest to find the PERFECT storage solution for recipes... I ran across this little article in (yes, a magazine) Better Homes and Gardens. It was the November 2007 Issue (which of course I can't seem to find the article online... argh!

Anywho - they listed three solutions in the article that are very good (one of which I am seriously considereing).

1. File Folders. I love this because you can have beautiful and sexy folders but the only problem is do you have the real estate to sacrifice in your kitchen for something like this? By the way.. Gina B. Designs has some fabulous folders!

2. Make a Cook Book. Using the three ring binder method with all size clear pockets would be the best solution. Small pockets for the smaller recipes and larger pages for the full sheet recipes. I was just at Oblation yesterday, and they too have some amazingly cute products in the store for recipies. Or of course the never fail See Jane Work has some awesomely cute binders. This is also really only helpful if keep the cards or recipe (so for me... is not practical).

3. Mini Photo Albums. Use the mini albums to store recipe cards... replace the old reliable box with some cute stylish albums sorted by food group. Again, this is also really only helpful if keep the cards or recipe (so for me... is not practical).

So... here are a few ideas...

How do you store your recipes?
I would love to hear some responses... as I am "in transition" with mine...
