Confessions of an Organizer: Part 5 - "Under the Microscope"
Today was the day I met with the Realtor. Do you ever have one of those meetings that you have to sit down after it's all over? Now I know how clients feel after we have a meeting. I almost felt a little empty after the realtor left... kind of like under the microscope. We did the standard walk through the house, talked about what my vision is for staging the house when we list it and they (the realtors) were pleased with my agenda. I have to say I was a little embarrassed for the condition of the house. The kids toys were of course everywhere and I did manage to get the pantry closet/storage space cleaned out so boxes and "stuff" were strung all over the family room.
When it comes to staging, I wouldn't call myself an expert but I would say that I know a few things! DECLUTTER is by far the most important. DEPERSONALIZE is the second most important thing and DIFFERENTIATION is the third. You have to set yourself apart from all the rest.
I did get a bit excited for what the next few months will bring... cleaning (love that), organizing (love that even more) and finally starting to look at our home as part of our past. Thankfully I have never been a sentimental type for the little stuff.
We are embarking on a new chapter of our life that brings so many amazing things. The kids are at the age where they are going to just love Hood River and all the awesome things it will offer. New beginnings are always a bit scary but change is good I always say!
So off to packing I go!
