101 Uses for Everyday Things!

In looking through some past issues of Real Simple, I ran across this uses for everyday things. It was a kind of a list of 10 items that are made with multiple purposes (that most people don't think of). I love it because most of the items are awesome we usually already have in our house! Here are my two favorites! The list did also include olive oil, baking soda, newspaper, dryer sheets, coffee filters, Ziploc bags, Velcro and salt!

LEMON JUICE is good for...

... using as a sanitizer
... eliminating odors
... eliminating browning on fruit that sits out for long periods of time
... removing stains on wood cutting boards
... removing stains on cloths
... whole lemons are quite decorative in a bowl
... relieving sore throats
... brightening laundry whites
... removing soft items like cheese from a grater!

WHITE VINEGAR is good for:
... using in lieu of lemon juice in a recipe
... removing coffee or tea stains from cups
... treating oil hair
... wiping stains off boots
... making wool fluffier
... deodorizing the garbage disposal
... cleaning coffee makers or tea kettles
... cleaning dishwashers
... removing stubborn price tags on glass or hard surfaces
... killing weeds between cracks in cement

It's amazing what this list consists of... you would be amazed what you can do with dryer sheets!

I love white vinegar! I use it for all those things. I was amazed it kills weeds in the pavement cracks - way better than a toxic chemical (and less expensive too).

One more tip: use a cup of baking soda, pour it down the drain of your sink, then poor another cup of vinegar. Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse with a gallon of hot, hot water. (This is also a great way to use that box of soda in the fridge when you change it out.)
