Where did summer go?

I am a little freaked out this morning.

It's August 8th and I am filled with disbelief that summer is almost over. Today is the opening ceremonies for the Olympics (yahoo!), and for me that means the end of summer is almost here. It's also rally weekend, which again signifies another end of summer activity.

I am not complaining... we have had a great summer! As you can see by the lack of posts on my blog I have been having way too much fun instead of working.

As most of you may or may not know, we are trying to sell our house (in the worst economic times since the depression practically) and move out to the glorious Columbia River Gorge... destiation... Hood River, Oregon. It's been a bummer that we haven't been able to get the house sold yet, but as most people say, it will happen when it happens... right?

This weekend we will be in the gorge... enjoying the surroundings of our future home town... doing what you ask?

Rally Weekend!

Let me explain... a friend of ours (David), owns a 1965 Austin Healy (pictured here) and he and my husband drive in the annual Monty Shelton NW Classic Rally. David has been doing this for like 15 years... but a few years back he asked my DH to drive with him.

We love this weekend! Why do I love it? Well, my husband and his friend drive an awesome classic car all day, while Wendy (my friend aka wife of David) go shopping, eat long lunches (with cocktails) and have girl time. Where are the kids? Well, they get to spend a weekend at Nana's... we have adapted the thinking that "what happens at Nana's stays at Nana's..." especially this weekend! They love it too!

What's not to love about that? I will be sure to share some pictures on facebook after the rally is over. As my husband likes to say... it's all good!

Time to take stock. Reflect on my summer.

Word for the Summer: Gratitude.

So often we get caught up in the mish mash of life and all the stuff, we forget about what is really important. I know that I have been feeling quite sorry for myself lately and worrying about things that really... aren't that important. It's really easy to do.

After taking a step back and looking from the outside in... I feel more prepared and ready to face the coming months. Sometimes when we get overwhelmed with life, it really does help to step out and look in.

Happy weekend and enjoy the Olympics...
