Reusable Back To School Items
I love my reusable bags. It took me a while to remember to use them, but now I take them everywhere I go! I keep a crate in the back of my van for things like extra blankets, coats, shoes or sunscreen... and my bags.
I really am getting into the whole reusable craze, at home especially. We bought some new water bottles for the summer and it's been great not buying the disposables (probably a good $50-$75 savings for our family)! I especially like SIGG bottles. You can find them at SIGG online, REI or Whole Foods. They are a little pricey but worth the investment!
The 1L bottle is the best for it's size... fits in my purse nicely! What's not to love about being earth friendly and looking good while you do it?
I have been subscribing to a great website for sometime now, it's called Reusablebags.com. Awesome site for an earth-friendly lifestyle. Not to mention they have a great newsletter with good advice and tips on what you can do! This past newsletter had a great focus on lunch bags!
With back to school on the brain, the timing was right for me to take a peek!
So many ideas and choices for the kids, that you can't help but think it would be worth looking at. Here are my favorites that I think are well worth the investment and sharing.
What's really interesting to me is that we are already feeling the price crunch at the store when we buy disposable products like lunch baggies or sandwich wraps... what's not to love about reusable? Most if these items are so affordable and really well worth the investment you must take a peek!
LUNCH BAGS/BOXES
The Laptop Lunch is one that I have been following for sometime now. It's especially nice for travel and you can't beat the color coded containers!

Lunch Sacks for boys can sometimes be a challenge, toss in a little camo and it officially becomes cool! You really can't beat the carrying strap not to mention it has an easy open/close lid! The really crazy thing is that it's cheaper than a license branded lunch box!
For the younger kids and/or toddlers, sometimes a favorite animal makes all the difference in the world... not to mention the Dalmatian is super cute! These look like they wash up really well too... which don't forget is sometimes half the battle with a lunch box!
When you are talking about a lunch box/bag or sack... think easy, washable and identifiable! You want to stick out from the crowd... be creative!
SANDWICH BAGS/WRAPS

It never occurred to me that these were an option, but how cool! What's not to love about something that can be tossed into the wash machine to be cleaned. The only disadvantage I could see is if the kids forget them at school... that would be a bummer! Otherwise, how nice! The organic sacks start at about $2.50 and really would be a nice alternative to a ziploc baggies.

Personally, I think the wrap mats are so practical. It has really two functions, it not only keeps your sandwich fresh, but when it comes time to eat.. you have a placemat! They also come in various colors... what's not to love about that?
If you haven't done some research for the new school year... start now! There are some great options and the small investment will be earth friendly and a whole lot more fun!

I just ordered a lunch bag from reusablebag.com last week! I think I'll order the mat and sandwich bags next! thanks for the info!
I do love those sandwhich wraps. I did find this tutorial on how to make your own. http://frugalgranola.blogspot.com/2008/08/frugal-friday-sandwich-wraps.html
I might have to give it a try.
