Managing many schedules

Last night we had family night (aka back-to-school night) for both elementary school and preschool. Thankfully, it was back to back events so it didn't take up too much family time.

Afterwords, I was telling my husband that it's amazing what you learn at these events. This being our third year at the same preschool, there are still things I didn't know (so for all you future preschool parents... go when asked!).

At both events, we were handed lots of information pertaining to the coming school year. Calendars, important dates, closure and contact information.

LAND 'A GOSHEN this was a lot to process.

So now, at this point what to do with all this information?

Sure, it's easy to take the few random documents and pin them up to a bulleting board or maybe on the fridge (or worse, file them away), but what happens when they fall off or get lost (or you can't find them)?

A few days ago, I blogged about my new planner, which I still love... did I tell you that? What I most love about it is the ability to manage multiple schedules in one place.

Each week is on one page, so when I open my book flat, the week is there in front of me. I have a space for myself (the top half of the page) and sections for up to four other members of the family (on the lower half of the page). The overview is helpful, not to mention not overcrowded and easy to read.

In the back, in the moms essentials booklet (that transfers from book to book each year, which is nice), I have space to document all the school information and contact numbers and emails.

Choosing a planner or form of time management tool is important to consider when thinking about getting organized. How you view and process information will determine the best tool.

I am quite visual and need to see the overview so this type and style works well for me! I need to have everything in one place, one main point of reference for all family and personal information. Random pieces of paper or points of reference, doesn't work for me. I get confused!

So, we still haven't answered the question, what do I do with all this information for the coming year?

Tomorrow, I plan to sit down with all these random pieces of paper and write down all the important dates and information that I need to know for the coming year. Do I use my Outlooks? Yes, of course!  I will probably schedule in the no school days as a reminder. In our house, life flows from this cute little 9x7x1 leopard print book.

Life is good!
