Back in the saddle again...
Well I have to admit, I have had a hard time getting back into my blog (a bit of blog burn out I think) since we moved. I joked with some friends about the fact that we had over 300 boxes to unpack but it wasn't really a joke.
In my opinion, I don't care how organized you are or how prepared you are... moving is stressful and overwhelming. I did manage to get one child up and going into his new school (all day kindergarten... who would have thought?) and the other will start next week! Break for mommy... yeah for me!
There is only so much you can do in a day. You only have a certain amount of time to get all the stuff moved from one house to the other (unless of course you hire movers, which we did not), you work really hard for short periods of time and the land in this new blank house filled with boxes that hold all your treasures.
Then what? Start the unpacking...
It hasn't really stopped for about a week, and there are about 80 boxes left.
I am loving the new space and the room we have to spread out a bit. I do ask myself how we managed fit into the old house with all our stuff. You see, my husband is a gear head so we have a lot of tools (and toys) for the outdoors. We also like to camp so again, lots of gear.
I am no better... I love photographs so we have lots of pictures (6-8 boxes to be exact) to fill our walls with memories and places we have been. Not to mention I am a scrapbooker and a crafter... so you can imagine the volume of boxes in that department (too embarrassed to count).
This is a stack of boxes we started the day we moved in... it's not all of them by any means! We managed to get some that were torn, or un-usable up to the store (where my husband works) to crush them in the compactor... it's good to know people!
As it is right now, this stack is just below my armpit... when it's all said and done I will be to the ceiling, I just know it!
Getting back to a sense of normal has been hard, after all, we are in a new normal. I am just proud I actually (well finally) sat down to do a post.
I guess the point I am trying to make here is that we all have our struggles... even organizers... working through the stuff takes time... each day, you chip away.
That's all you can do! As my DH always says... "It's all Good!"

Hi Megan,
I know if anyone can get all of those boxes not only emptied but the contents placed exactly where they should be in record time...it is you! I'm so happy for you and your family to finally be moved and settling in to your new 'normal' routine. You have been on a real roller coaster and now you can coast. Well, that is, as much as a mom with two active little boys can coast
