MPM: Menu Planning Monday - 12/1/08 and 12/8/08

I love the holidays... I love just about anything and everything relating to the this time of year. The weather, the lights, the decorations, baking, cooking... speaking of cooking... I spent quite a bit of time today hammering out my menu for the next two weeks, in addition to my holiday cookies.

Every year, I spend at least one full day baking over 30 dozen cookies. I send a big tray with my DH for him to take to his staff, I give some to teachers, neighbors and good friends. Not to mention the dozen or so I have left over for us to eat! Yummy! I am especially excited because BOTH kids can help me this year!

I am also doing something a little different this week in my menu/shopping planning. As I was searching the grocery ads and the paper, I saw that Rosauer's had a special on butter and eggs (both of which I will need quite a bit of for cookies) that was worth noting. The other thing I noticed was that Walgreen's is running their $5 OFF a $25 purchase coupon as well and they have coffee on sale this week. So, in an effort to save (close to $30), I decided to break up my shopping and head to three different stores to get it all done.

This is not something I normally practice, but when I can save more than a tank of gas going to the three stores... it's worth it!
