FRIDAY FINDS: Alerts.com
Welcome to your Friday Finds... here I will share a new
product or service that I think is helpful, practical and a good use of
organization!!! Today's focus is a web resource called alerts.com.
I don't know about you, but getting reminders is by far the most helpful organizing tool developed yet. Between using my calendar in Outlook and my Google Reader, I don't know what I would do without those automated reminders. Things like birthdays and anniversaries, writing blog posts, watering my plants, follow up with clients and web research are just a small portion of what I use reminders for.
Our local news channel has been running a segment in the mornings that I have found really interesting, it's called Stretching Your Dollar. The other day, one of the stretching your dollar segments was about how you can use a website called alerts.com to help you stay organized and save you money! This of course got my attention, so I had to check it out!
Alerts.com is fantastic! Especially for you techy kids out there... if you use a mobile device, this can be a fantastic tool. Basically here is how it works...
1. Sign up for the free service.
2. Pick from a list of 20+ services that you can get an alert (cheap gas, Craigslist items, sport scores, weather, news, etc.).
3. Determine how you would like to receive the alert (email, phone or mobile text).
That's it! It's really that simple! I personally have signed up for the weather alert. I get them at 7am, when I turn on my computer. It's fast and easy.... what is not to love about that?
