FRIDAY FINDS: Attic/Shelf Storage

Welcome to your Friday Finds... here I will share a new product or service that I think is helpful, practical and a good use of organization!!!  Today's focus is extra shelving...

If you are anything like me, you have either completed the holiday tear down, or you are thinking about it.

As for me, I am in the midst of returning my house back to "normal" today. I find that we like to enjoy the holiday decorations through the new year, but enough is enough... once January 1st comes and goes, I am done. It all has to come down!

I have always loved my choice of storage solutions for our holiday decor. I have so many odd shaped items, various wreaths, garlands, etc., it's enough to make any person feel like Christmas barfed in my house.

Either way, my personal favorite storage item for our decorations has always been the trusty 31 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck Tote. They stack nicely, and I have perfected the art of packing our items in them neatly and orderly. Each room has their own tote (or two), and it makes the whole process go smoothly unpacking and packing up again.

Being in the new house, I have found that our "storage" is, and probably will be, in need of some continuous "tweaking" for a few seasons, to get it the way I like it, or at least functional. The totes are working nicely, as II store almost all of our holiday gear in a spare closet in the guest room. However, my problem is that, the larger, longer items aren't fitting so well in the closet.

In our old house we had our attic (which sadly, I do miss) for all our season stuff. In my search for storage, I ran across this rafter-attic storage shelf (which would have worked awesome in our old house). Most people don't think about the high ceiling storage space as a possibility for a shelf, and these shelves are a perfect solution if you have an attic space!
