Could you spend NOTHING for a whole month?
I am really mad at myself today.
I read this great post on the net somewhere and I can't find it.
I have spent practically half the day searching for it, and I am so bugged that I can't find it. It was about a lady who was getting ready for her month of no spending.
I liked the post for a few reasons, she choose February because it's the shortest month of the year, and because it's so close to the beginning of the year, it kept her motivated to keep her spending in check for the remainder of the year.
As I was searching for the article, I was fascinated by this whole idea.
Could you really go a whole month without spending a dime? I found various articles (NOT THE ONE I WANTED DARN IT) that you might find interesting...
First it was Liz Pullman, from MSN Money who discusses the whole concept of not spending for a month.
Then I found a gal (a barefoot way of life), who actually is going through with a no spending month (except for some approved items).
WikiHow has a nice step by step method of how to buy nothing; and finally, (one of my favorites)... Say Yes to No has an entire website dedicated to saying yes to no - no spending month.
**The image was captured from timesunion dot com, the brown skin lady blog.... ironically, her photo was from a post about one month of thriftiness.
So, my question is to you... could you go a whole month without spending?

Well, I made it a month without buying any new clothes...believe me that is miraculous for me. But, then this week I couldn't resist. However, I only buy clothing on sale now and there are some great sales out there now! I know one person who went an entire year without buying anything but absolute essentials. She really missed buying new shoes! Due to this economy, I am very committed to watching every dime I spend!

Sales are all over right now, businesses getting new spring and summer inventory... so it is a great time to shop. I would be intrigued to hear how that went for your friend... it's easier to cut back when we don't have a choice. Thanks for coming by!

I could definitely not spend on frivolous crap for a month, but I'd have to draw the line at necessities like food. Must...have...fresh...fruit....

I love fresh anything... herbs, veggies, fruit... It's amazing when you look at your spending where all the "leaks" are found... thanks for coming by!

Well, there's no way i couldn't spend anything (food, electricity, water, etc.) but personal spending - easy.
I'm very cheap - in fact, this last month I didn't spend a thing. Our month goes from 25th to 25th because of when we get paid and I couldn't believe, I didn't spend a thing!

I am like you with only getting paid once a month, which sets our budget so it's a little easier to overlook extra spending.... I wonder with some preparation, if I could go a month with only spending on bills and nothing else? It's such an interesting concept...
