Menu Planning: eating at home...

First, did you know that 58% of Americans prefer cooking a meal at home to eating out? Who doesn't like a home cooked meal?
Also, I read an article on Stretcher, Jill and Tawra over at LivingOnaDime dot com, talk about the benefits of an organized kitchen (which happens to be my room of focus for the month of February by the way, you can sign up for my newsletter here if you like), but they note that you could save $6 - $12 for every meal you cooked at home? Even Peter Walsh is talking about organizing kitchens this month with his clutter challenge. Kitchens talk is everywhere...
I thought this week (as I was planning my menu) that I want to get back to some basics... When I went shopping this past week, I managed to save over $60 on my grocery bill. I did a two part shopping trip to save at Safeway (they had a $10 coupon card and chicken was on sale for $1.69/lb.). Rosauer's had bread on sale (not to mention a bunch of other stuff) for $.79 a loaf. They have the best bread and we go through about two loaves a week.
Some meal ideas this week that I added were...
- Spaghetti (the boys love spaghetti)
- Ham and Cheese on Flatbread (dad's working late that night)
- Meatloaf
- Grilled Pork Roast
- Chicken Tostada's
- Asparagus Fritata's
- French Toast (we like breakfast for dinner)
- Garlic Rub Grilled Steaks
- Pork Stir Fry
- Oven Fried Chicken (I git this in a recipe email share... it looks good and easy)
- Ravioli with Grilled Chicken
